Planet Merge – A Tiny Solar System Puzzle

Planet Merge is a casual puzzle game where you drop planets into a small cosmic play area and combine matching ones to create larger worlds. The basic idea is easy to understand, but the available space becomes harder to manage as the planets grow. A good merge can clear room, while a badly placed drop may leave the board crowded much sooner than expected.

How the Planet Merging Works

Each turn gives you another planet to place. Aim with the mouse, choose a useful position, and release it. When two matching planets meet, they combine into a larger celestial body.

The new planet does not simply stay where you placed it. Gravity affects its movement, which can cause it to roll into another planet and trigger another merge. These chain reactions can be extremely useful when the board starts getting crowded.

Keep an Eye on the Bubble

The playing area is limited by a surrounding bubble. Letting a planet escape means the run is over, so filling the available space without losing control is the main concern. Larger planets take up much more room. This means a merge that looks helpful at first can create a new problem a few moves later. Try to leave open areas for incoming planets instead of filling every gap immediately.

Cute Characters, Tricky Decisions

The planets have friendly faces and a playful look, which keeps the game feeling relaxed even when the board becomes difficult to manage. The cheerful presentation is a nice contrast to the surprisingly careful placement required during longer runs.

Sputnik's journey also gives the merging process a simple goal: work through the celestial bodies and eventually move toward the Sun.

Controls

  • Mouse Drag — Aim and position the planet
  • Mouse Release — Drop the planet

Ways to Improve Your Score

  • Leave some open space instead of stacking everything together.
  • Look at the next available planet before making a drop.
  • Use the sides of the bubble carefully; crowded corners can become difficult to clear.
  • Take advantage of chain reactions when several matching planets are close together.
  • Avoid making a large merge if the resulting planet will block useful space.

What You Can Discover

Planet Merge features ten celestial bodies to encounter as you work through the progression. Larger merges create higher-value combinations, while achievements provide additional goals beyond simply keeping the board clear.

The game is at its best when a carefully planned drop creates an unexpected chain reaction. What begins as a simple matching puzzle gradually turns into a balancing act between making bigger planets and leaving yourself enough room for the next move.
