City Hero drops you into Vice Town with plenty of room to roam. The streets are packed with gang members, while rooftops and narrow alleys give you different ways to move around. You can follow missions, pick fights, chase enemies, or grab the rope and swing across the city whenever you feel like exploring.
Rooftops give you another way to get around Vice Town. You can jump from one building to another or swing across gaps with the rope when the streets take too long. Sprinting is handy when enemies are close, while a well-timed jump can help you reach a rooftop and get out of trouble. The M key brings up the map whenever you need to check where you are.
Exploration eventually leads to gangster encounters and mission objectives. Combat gives you several ways to deal with enemies. Super strength works well at close range, while weapons give you more options when approaching a group from a distance.
As missions progress, tougher enemies appear and boss fights become part of the action. Choosing where to stand can matter just as much as attacking, especially when several enemies are nearby.
City Hero also includes a Zombie Arena for players who want something more chaotic than regular missions. Instead of moving through the city looking for objectives, you face waves of undead enemies and try to survive for as long as possible. The longer the fight continues, the harder the encounters become. A robot boss adds another challenge for players who make it through the tougher battles.
The superhero is not limited to one fixed setup. Different weapons, outfits, and gear can be unlocked as you continue playing. Switching equipment gives you a chance to change how the character looks and approaches different encounters.
City Hero mixes open-world movement with straightforward superhero combat. Swinging across rooftops gives exploration its own rhythm, while missions and the Zombie Arena provide reasons to stop sightseeing and start fighting.
