Collecting acorns sounds harmless until your own shadow starts chasing you. That's the unusual twist in Shady Cats, a platform game where every move can create trouble later. Run across platforms, grab as many acorns as you can, and stay away from the shadow repeating your movements. Taking the same route twice isn't always a good idea.
Move from platform to platform and collect the acorns scattered around the level. The shadow follows the path you've already taken, so jumping back into an area you've visited can put you in danger. Touching it ends your run.
There are three special elements to watch for:
Fish: Helps you collect more acorns but attracts bees.
Bees: Add another hazard when you go after fish.
Fireflies: Temporarily remove shadows, giving you a chance to move through dangerous areas.
Fish can be tempting when you're chasing a higher score, but attracting bees may make the next few moves harder. Sometimes it's better to leave a pickup alone and keep your route clear.
Shady Cats can be played alone or with up to four players on one device. Each player controls a different cat and has to deal with their own shadow. Sharing the same space can make things unpredictable, especially when everyone is trying to reach the same group of acorns.
Playing with friends adds another layer to the challenge. You can work together to collect more or see who manages to survive the longest.
| Player | Move | Jump |
|---|---|---|
| Player 1 | A / D or Q / D | W / Z |
| Player 2 | F / H | T |
| Player 3 | J / L | I |
| Player 4 | Left / Right Arrows | Up Arrow |
Shady Cats keeps you thinking about where you've already been, not just what's ahead. A quick detour for acorns can leave your shadow in an awkward position, and fish pickups bring their own risks. Playing with others makes the platforming even less predictable, as several cats and shadows share the screen.
